West Kilbride Karate Club

West Kilbride Karate Club is relatively new, being in existence since 2005, but, in this short time the club has prospered and has become a valued addition to community life of the village. The club caters for all ages, with Tiger Cubs Classes for 5 to 7 year olds and evening classes for all ages above 8 year old. The classes have a very strong family base with Mums and Dads training along with their kids. If you are interested in training in a safe friendly atmosphere you are welcome to come along to one of our classes, you can join in or watch on the first evening. All you need is your bare feet and lose clothing to train.

Tiger Cubs

The classes are mixture of traditional Shotokan Karate and children's games taught using modern training methods. Your child will learn with their peers the basics of Karate in a fun, friendly and safe environment. The classes are based on a proven method established for over ten years by the the JKA and KDS. The classes are designed to promote a healthy body and mind, by developing physical and mental fitness at a level appropriate to your child's abilities. Classes run throughout the year coinciding with the school term, with each class lasting forty-five minutes.

All coaching is carried out by qualified instructors who have attended "Sports Coach UK" seminars on child coaching practices, first aid, and are enhanced Disclosure Scotland vetted.

Although Karate at a high level can be a contact sport, in the Karate Tiger Cubs group, safety is of paramount importance, therefore, during training there will be no fighting contact made between the children.

NOTE: Our main motivation is that your child should be safe and enjoy their Karate training. We therefore request that during the training session, a responsible adult is present for the duration of the class.
