June KDS Squad Training and All Grades Course Kirkwall, Orkney 18th and 19th June 2010

Kumite Practice

The June KDS Squad Training session was held in Kirkwall, Orkney on Saturday 19th June with an All Grades course held the previous evening 18th June. Sessions were taken by KDS Instructors Bert Stewart 4th Dan JKA KDS team manager and John Deans 4th Dan KDS Squad coach.

The Friday all grades session consisted of Kihon, Kata and Kumite training specifically concentrating on the Kyu grade syllabus. The Saturday Squad Training session was attended by the senior grades with various kumite drills and partners work being practiced along with advanced Kata. The session finished with some friendly matches where the students could put into practice what they had learned over the weekend.

JKA Junior European Championships
May 2010, Prague, Czech Republic

JKA Scotland  has selected a 10 strong team to represent Scotland at the forthcoming JKA Junior European Championships in Prague, Czech Republic over the weekend of 22nd /23rd May 2010.

Kumite at Squad Training

Despite the fact that everyone had been training hard at the previous weekends JKA Scotland National course there was still a good turn out of Junior and Senior KDS Squad members for the October Squad Training session held in Perth. KDS Squad coach John Deans 4th Dan JKA started with Kata training and moved onto Kumite drills and finished with some competitive matches in both Kata and Kumite.

The Squad training sessions are open not only to KDS squad members wanting to make JKA Scotland team selection but also to anyone wishing to work on Kata or Kumite training for competition or Dan grading. The sessions are rotated around the regions and future squad sessions will be posted on this website.
